In case Seriake Dickson the Governor of Bayelsa State who was recently re-elected is expecting a congratulatory message from President Muhammadu Buhari, he had better forget it says Information and culture Minister Lai Mohammed.
The Minister who spoke to journalists in Abuja today 18th January 2016 said that President Buhari would not follow the habit of his predecessor Goodluck Jonathan who was of the habit of sending congratulatory messages to winners of elections despite party affiliation.
There have been calls from some Nigerians for the President to congratulate the Bayelsa Governor especially Senator Ben Bruce and other PDP members of the state advising the President to toe the path of Goodluck Jonathan who always issues statements to congratulate members of the opposition party who won governorship election during his tenure.
But Lai Mohammed told journalists that President Buhari thinks that congratulatory messages are unnecessary interference in election outcomes which he will not engage in.
He said the President never sent any congratulatory message to the APC candidate who won the Kogi State Guber election
