This is Rani ki vav, step well at Patan, Gujarat.

It was constructed by Queen Udayamati  in the 11th century on the banks of river Saraswati, as a memorial to her husband Bhimadeva I.

The step well is an underground water resource and storage system.

 

 

 

 

 

 

7 levels

This seven story underground well is 64m long, 20m wide and the shaft of the well is 27m deep.
